Therapeutic Approach

My style tends to be warm, directive, and practical. I practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which are empirically supported treatments for a wide range of problems, including anxiety disorders, OCD, and depression. CBT and ACT are hands-on, skilled-based treatments that rely heavily on a collaborative relationship between the therapist and client (and the client’s parents, when applicable). CBT tends to be short term, though duration of treatment varies a lot depending on the presenting problem and client preference. For maximum benefit, clients should expect to complete between-session assignments.

Ages Treated

I treat children (ages nine and older), adolescents, and adults. I will see children younger than nine years old on a case-by-case basis.

Home or Community Exposure Therapy

Exposure to anxiety provoking situations is among the most efficacious treatment strategies for anxiety disorders and OCD. When indicated, I will travel to locations within 15 miles of my office in Concord, MA, to work with those who may benefit from therapist-assisted exposures in the home or community.

Parent Consultation

I provide guidance for parents of children, adolescents, and young adults on how best to manage behaviors associated with anxiety disorders and OCD.

Professional Consultation and Speaking Engagements

I offer clinical supervision or consultation on CBT to other mental health professionals. I am also available to conduct presentations or workshops for mental health professionals, education professionals, groups of adolescents/young adults, or parent groups.
